Fokus Exeter: Metrik & James Hiraeth

Our second event of 2023 is here, and this time we have one of the most highly respected producers in Drum & Bass in Metrik alongside a rapidly growing young talent in James Hiraeth!

As an artist, Metrik draws inspiration from a diverse pool of styles. Close your eyes while listening to a Metrik album and you can practically see him weaving visual references to science fiction and the movies of his childhood. What you’re left with is something that looks to the future with a distinctly nostalgic hue, fuelled by love for synthwave, film soundtracks and neo-soul. Massive tracks such as ‘Gravity’, ‘Hackers’ and ‘We Got It’ are staple tunes in the sets of massive DJs across the planet.

James Hiraeth is a name that has appeared from almost nowhere over the past 12 months. Massive remixes of viral track ‘Baby Girl’ and ‘I Got You’ stand tall alongside original productions including ‘Chasing Highs (Slow Motion) and ‘Do You Feel It’. He has seen support on Radio 1 over the past year as well as going viral almost daily on TikTok. This young DJ is getting ready to take over the Drum & Bass world.
